those crazy guys they call defunct

shaolin master of the far east

Regarded by his peers for his sense of innovation and musical ability, Andrew is the modest leader of the group. The principal songwriter, he feels a lot of responsibility and is the one who always steps forward to get the band shows. Although he sometimes he gets lost in the middle of his solos and we have to hose him down with water to get him to come back to earth, we still love him. Athough quite an accomplished guitarist he can also play the piano, trumpet, and many other things that can be played, including an oddly tuned instrument: the sitar. Andrew feels confident about the band, and hopes to be at the helm as the band tries to climb out of the depths of Holy Names High School as more that just a band. Defunct does not want to be regarded in the same light as Heaven in a Blender, another band from Holy Names who are nothing more than an elaborate hoax created by the Pope to steal the power from the ancient Aztecs thereby which creating a devastating...well, never mind.

the inimitable andrew burnett

Andrew Burnett is a self taught guitarist, meaning he has no musical background that tells him what or why he plays what he does. He plays music because he can, because he likes it, and because he believes he can move forward in this band as one of its many innovators. He has already shown promise with a few songs written, and with his ability to find and create passages in songs that not only work in the song, but also somewhat defy general rules of music. Andrew is a hard working guitarist who teams up with Maxwell Roach and Matthew Williams to form the solid rhythm section of Defunct, which powers the band to new heights every step of the way.

 'phish? what? who? what?' --matt

Matt is a home-grown country boy. Raised on classical music his whole life, his musical knowledge exceeds just about anyone else in the band. In fact, his primary instrument is the cello. His first experience with the bass is this band. Honing his craft writing songs with collaborator Andrew Bondy, he brings a lot to the group.

a fantastic drummer and a nice person as well

Many people might just say that Max Roach is just an average Black drummer in a high school concert band. That's true, although he also playes in a progressive rock group called Defunct (you may or may not heard of them), where he pounds out the beats with a fiery intensity that one could only call true passion. Max is well-versed in many styles, including Jazz, Gospel, Reggae, Rock and also the tribal style. Many drummers are said to be good, but only a select few are placed in the elite group of drummers that a select few may call excellent. Ask any of the members of Defunct, and they will swear by the fact that Max is one of the best drummers to grace Windsor for many a year.
