the so-called dreaful history of defunct.

It all started one day in school. A boy named Ryan Edwards was conferring with drummer Max Roach about starting a band. Andrew Bondy, an up and coming axslinger fresh out of several crappy bands (for which he played drums) overheard this conversation and was eager to join up. Ryan, a guitarist, welcomed Andrew along with mutual friends, Matt Williams (bass) and Pat Thompson (keyboards). The original lineup was assembled. Even at their first practice, they pounded out a couple of covers and a lengthy progressive rock instrumental, "Harsh Whisper". Bondy, the only member with previous band experience, took the lead singer/ lead guitarist position.

The five-man onslaught of noise, after several months, played a set at a local music festival. This was their first and last performance as a five piece band. Shortly thereafter, Thompson and Edwards left the band, leaving the trio of Andrew Bondy, Max Roach and Matt Williams. over the next year the trio played several small shows under the moniker "Disowned". Writing songs and honing their craftmanship finally paid off at a school talent show where they recieved rave reviews. During the week of the show, Disowned acquired guitarist Andrew Burnett. This created a new texture for the band, as they were quoted to have a "wall of beautiful sound and harmony" at their next show, a Christmas concert in a packed gym.

This is how the fabled lineup stands now, sometimes adding vocalist/guitarist Lindsay Pare (lovechild of Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin) to the mix every now and then. So once again a five piece band, now known as Defunct, readies themselves for an upcoming CD and eventually plans to dominate the tri county area with their progressive/funk/metal sound.
